St. James Church  2012

The Forum was was contacted by the Diocise of Blackburn to work with them as a partner on this project to improve the grounds of St James Church in the centre of Accrington. The Forum worked with the Diocese and Hyndburn Borough Council on a successful bid to the Lancashire Environment Fund for £39,000. This is in addition to the £50,000 the Diocese were awarded from Community Spaces and £60,000 from Hyndburn Borough Council who are responsible for the unkeep of the closed churchyard at St James.

The work is to be funded by Community Spaces, Lancashire Environmental Fund and Hyndburn Borough Council.

The improvements include new stone paved paths and improved access, with the focus on the 18th century grade II listed church, which will also have new lighting to the church's facades. Bulb planting and new tree planting will complete the work in early November.
